SNAG group (School Nutrition Action Group) or the ‘SNAG Avengers’ is made up of 2 children from each class who have applied to represent their class and help make our lunchtimes be the best they can be. They work with Mrs Curry, our Deputy Headteacher; Mrs Bradbury, our school cook; representatives from our food provider and from Durham Council to improve mealtimes for our school.
We meet regularly and this year our aims are to:
- Increase school meal numbers
- Reduce plastic waste
Our group explores what people enjoy about school meals and how to make them better.
We are encouraging children (and staff) to use renewable drinks containers rather than single-use plastics.
Our school meal providers only use MSC sustainable fish; Red Tractor Meat; local producers of milk and eggs and continues to invest in sustainability.
School meal waste is used locally to make energy for the local community.
