We work with Mrs Dubre to make sure our school and community is environmentally friendly.  Recently we planted some spring flowering bulbs at the local older citizens bungalow area of the village; it will be bright and colourful once they bloom!

Eco group's Earth Hour!

Eco-Warriors on: Eco-blog

Recently - on the 1st of March 2016 -  Eco Warriors led an extraordinary event called Earth Hour. This is when people in school turn off the electricity for one whole hour (at WGPS we chose to do this from 1:30PM -2:30PM). We were allowed to use battery powered resources if they had previously been charged, however, most classes avoided this. When the hour had finished, many classes found they hadn't needed to turn back on all of the lights or use some of the electrical equipment, so lots of energy was saved.

The worldwide Earth Hour event is on Saturday 19th March from 8:30PM-9:30PM.  You can find out more information about the UK event on the link Earth Hour 2016.

Our Eco-warriors are continuing our energy saving effort with the 'Busted' scheme, where our Eco-group children use a rota system to take turns patrolling the classrooms at break-times and lunchtimes to check that staff and pupils have turned off unnecessary electrical items.  If things are on, a class receives a 'Busted' card to remind them about energy conservation.  These cards are tracked so we can help classes who aren't as energy conscious.
