Witton Gilbert Primary School

Welcome back!  It's lovely to see everyone settled into to their new classes.  Well done to Reception class for a great start to their first year in school!

Welcome

Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors

Witton Gilbert Primary School is a popular, successful and inclusive school at the heart of a well- established community, situated on the fringe of Durham in the north of the county.

Our school aims to provide a stimulating, happy and secure environment where children can thrive, learn and achieve. We strongly encourage  positive and respectful attitudes and relationships between all members of our school community and we value close partnerships between home and school.

We are committed to ensuring every child receives a high standard of education, through focussed learning activities and the provision of creative and wide ranging experiences. OFSTED (2017) found that:

‘Exciting before and after school clubs, educational trips, interesting visitors and stimulating topics...contribute to pupils' spiritual, social and cultural experiences.’

At Witton Gilbert Primary School we value the importance of nature and play in children's development.  Play and lunchtimes are well resourced with a range of objects, dressing up clothes and scrap materials so that  children can fire up their imaginations, be creative and develop problem solving, team work and resilience - whilst having lots of fun!

I hope you enjoy exploring our website. If you are unable to find the information you need, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to help.

Kind regards
Mrs P Nelson
Head Teacher
